... and opportunities!
Welcome to the 2019-20 academic year! All families (new and returning) read through the policy carefully and sign when you are done. Please do so by August 10, so that I know you intend to continue with lessons in the coming school year. After August 10, spots may be given to other students as needed. Returning students: unless we have already made other arrangements, your spots from last year will be your default spots for the upcoming school year as well. If you need to change to another time, please let me know, and I will do my best to find a new time for you. If a convenient time is not immediately available, I can place your students at the top of the waitlist for a new time, and we will be in contact as the new schedule becomes more settled. Schedule: Lessons are offered in 30, 45, and 60 min. increments, Monday through Saturday. Lessons occur most weeks, with absences on my part communicated in advance. I will do my best to accommodate the scheduling needs of everyone in my studio. Please communicate any planned absences such as vacations as early as possible. Consistency of lessons are the single most important factor in your piano students’ growth, so every effort should be made to meet weekly. Payments: Payments will be collected for each month of lessons one the first day of each month. Electronic payments are preferable: if you are unable to pay electronically, we can discuss other options on a case by case basis. Hourly fees for 2019-20 are $50/hr. Lessons are offered in 30, 45, and 60 min. increments. Cancellations: In the event of an occasional, planned absence such as a vacation, no payment is necessary when notification occurs in advance of that month. For absences scheduled after the first of the month (for instance, due to illness), two options for makeups are available: a.) Skype/Hangout lessons during a student’s regular lesson time, or b.) scheduling a make-up lesson during an available time slot. No refunds or credits are available in the event of an unplanned absence. Recitals: Participation in recitals is strongly encouraged. Recitals will be held as locally as possible, and will be announced at least one month in advance. There is no additional fee for recitals. Other performance/adjudication opportunities will be available throughout the year, and are optional. These may involve additional fees. Open communication between families and teachers is key to ensuring that piano lessons are a positive and enriching experience for your student: please do not hesitate to reach out if you or your student have any special concerns or requests. Current students are encouraged to perform at a recital held on April 23, at 2:30 PM. The recital will be held at United Lutheran Church in Oak Park, and will be followed by a light reception.
